Philosophy

Dotty is not built around a single planning method.

Some people think best in lists. Others prefer grids, maps, timelines, or pages of notes. Dotty is built to support these different ways of working. Instead of prescribing a single method, it gives you tools you can mix, match, and arrange until the system feels natural to you.

One way to understand Dotty is to think of its tools as belonging to three broad groups: orientation, productivity, and meaning.

Orientation

Directions describe the areas of life you want to move toward. Habits represent actions you want to repeat as you move in those directions. Metrics record signals you care about over time. Together they help keep planning connected to a broader direction.

Productivity

Projects, Milestones, and Tasks help you organize commitments and move them forward step by step. This part of Dotty answers the practical question: what should I work on now?

Meaning

Notebooks give you space to write and develop ideas. Planners let you arrange information visually, placing tasks, notes, charts, and trackers side by side so relationships become easier to see.

Over time, the system you build can begin to reflect how you think and work.
